All I Want for Christmas...

When I asked James what he wanted for Christmas last year, he said the only thing he really wanted was "a donation made to the Blazeman Foundation for ALS". We had watched Jon "Blazeman" Blais' story numerous times when the 2005 Ironman World Championship aired on TV. I cry every time I watch it. Little did we know, as James made his Christmas request, that ALS would soon make a huge impact on our own lives!

James's grandmother had not been doing well for the past few years. A wrong diagnosis of a stroke, had the family's attention focused on that. In the end, it turned out that she, in fact, had not had a stroke. She had been suffering from "ALS" or "Lou Gehrig's Disease". Grandma Goforth passed away on May 27, 2011. Four years to the day of the death of Jon Blais.
