Lance Armstrong

Will Lance Armstrong be at the Ironman in Hawaii in October? Rumors circulating around the triathlete community say that he will. I did not realize until today that he was a triathlete before he decided to focus on cycling. He participated in Ironman Hawaii in 1991. I know I will be looking for him!

  1. Oh hell yeah, I hope he will. He said that he will be at Kona 15 months after his last Tour de France and that was in June 2010, so October 2011 it is. Regarding qualifying, if Tony Kanaan and that other racing driver can get wildcards, sure Lance can get one as well, so all he gotta do is train and show up, really.
He use to be an elite junior swimmer at very first, then turned junior triathlete in 1987 or so and won some short distance stuff on national level, then found out how good a cyclist he was and wen't pro cycling. He has run several sub 3 hr Marathons and I hope his cycling in TT mode is as good as ever.

Realisticly I see him getting a wildcard for the Pro field, and this being his times:
    - Swim 54 mins, not the fastest but he just needs to stay within 10mins of Number 1 and 54 will make it so, as first swimmer should be around 46 mins, probably Rasmus Henning.
    - Bike, well one word..WRRROOOOOM, OUT OF MY WAY!..He will beat the 4:18 record of Norman Stadler provided he doesnt break stuff or puncture more than once. He will probably be around in 43kmt avg or 4hrs and 11min and thus enter the Run stage as the first guy. Then he will lead for a while but then go down in tempo cause he overestimated himself and be passed by the winner and 2-3 others. I think he will have a 3hr 10min Marathon at best and with 2x2min T1+T2 we are looking at a finish time of 08:19 as 3rd or 4th man over the line.

Winner will be, I think Rasmus Henning or Andreas Raelert in 2011.
