Another Day on the Big Island!

Wednesday started out with James going out for a nice, leisurely swim in the Pacific Ocean! There were many people out there, practicing on the swim course. Then, his coaching group went on a run on part of the race course so they could see what it was like!

James, Aaron and my dad went to check out the lagoon. Rylan and I were jet-lagged, so we stayed in the room and took a little rest while the big boys swam.

In the afternoon, James and I attended a “meet and greet” with other athletes who were being featured by the Ironman Foundation. Some of the pros were supposed to be there, but due to scheduling conflicts, were unable to make it. We did get to talk with people from “More Than Sport”, “Make A Wish”, “Life Quest” and other organizations. We even got to talk with Tara Costa, a former contestant on “The Biggest Loser”. After “The Biggest Loser”, she started “Inspire Change” which helps support children to lead healthy lifestyles. It was inspiring to see so many people who were racing in honor of so many causes that are close to their hearts!

Dinner was spent at “Bongo Ben’s” watching the sun set and Kona quiet down. We had read that there is not a “night life” in Kona. This seemed to be true. Once the sun sets, people finish dinner and head back to their hotels for early bedtimes. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that everyone seems to get up early to swim, bike, run, or walk around the island. Kona is way busier at 8:00 am than 8:00 pm!
